I am bad when it comes to eating my fruit. I rather drink it a la Smoothie!
I just bought a low-fat smoothie recipe book, and so far the results have been disappointing. The only good one was with frozen orange juice concentrate – and that has just too much sugar and calories in it for me.
Does any have a great smoothie recipe they could share? Or do you know of a great source (web site) or book? I could search forever online, but I want some tried, true, and tested smoothies that I know I will like before I invest in the fruit and time of making them again!
The ones I make are based on 200-250ml low fat milk, a banana and then a small handful of frozen fruit – they come in different combinations, I have ‘forest fruits’ and ‘tropical’ at the mo.
I’d also recommend substituting a Muller Light yoghurt (do you have those in the US ?) instead of the banana and milk, trying to pick a fruit that goes nicely with the flavour of the yoghurt.
I got a juicer for my birthday, which was a surprise, so I’m going to try that out at some point. The shopping delivery turned up with an extra kilogram of carrots – free !) so I guess I’ve go the basis of some healthy drinks already !
I probably should have mentioned that I cannot have anything with yogurt in it. Something about those active cultures that do not agree with my tummy .
