A Journey through My Daze of Dieting

The Headache. April 28, 2007

I was all gung ho on Thursday to jump start my exercise routine. Little did I know that I would not even get half into my day when a migraine struck – one of the worst I have had in a long time.

The meds I take for migraines make me extremely tired. I slept for 15 hours straight – got up to use the bathroom, and then slept for another 3 1/2. This was surely not the exercise I planned. I don’t think that snoring counts!

Couple that with the fact that when I did wake up for the day early yesterday morning, I was STARVING! My daughter had made chocolate chip cookies the night before and there were three left on the plate. So as my oatmeal was on the stove, I ate them ALL!

Later in the day, hubby and I had some shopping to do and I was craving the biscuits at Cracker Barrel – so we made a stop. I didn’t do all that bad – I only ate two biscuits with my tasty grilled chicken salad. It could have been worse.

As I am writing, I am finishing up my cup of green tea, and will get out next to do my three mile walk while the weather is still bearable.

I won’t let this week, or at least the last few days, be a total write-off. The worst I could have done was to have stayed at the same weight – right?

About Last Night… April 23, 2007

Ugh – so about last night. Let’s pretend it didn’t happen, okay?

I splurged. I was exhausted, physically, and starving. I ate dinner early – around 4:00, and I worked outside until about 7:30 that night. I had to run to the grocery store, and these little Friendly’s sundae cups were on sale. I bought two – one for me, one for hubby. Thank goodness, I only like the original fudge flavor, or I probably would have bought more. I scarfed it up as soon as I got home and could grab a spoon – oy – not good. I hadn’t even finished unloading the groceries.

That is when I went into a spiral spin downwards, and totally let all heck break loose.

My son wanted an ice cream cone, so I made him one, and I proceeded to eat a plain cone. Just the cone people – yeah, very desperate. Then my daughter baked some chocolate chip cookies to bring to school today. They were mini cookies, but all the same, I had to make sure they tasted fine for her class. Again, again, and again. It took 4 cookies to let her know they were good to go. ;)

I am back on track today, and already took a 3 mile (a bit over, actually) walk. I did it in 59 minutes, so I was moving! I certainly hope that makes up for it.

My weekly weigh-in is tomorrow, and I hope I didn’t mess up my whole week by giving into one night of temptation. I will be sure to update you!!!

SUNday, SUNday, SUNday! April 22, 2007

We are having the most glorious weekend here in the Northeast, with temperatures much above normal. What a change a week can make, with temperatures much below normal last weekend. OY!

It is so nice to get out and about and be busy playing with the kids in the yard and such. Today is just a day for yard work. Can you feel the burn yet? All the bending, raking!

Good thing is that I have been doing great on the diet front, eating light, lots of salad, cold veggies, and water! YEAH!

Happy Sunday!

Day One. April 18, 2007

Filed under: Diet Foods, Dieting, Diets, Exercise — Teri @ 10:47 am

Got up a little late today – it was 9:06. Being Spring Break with the kids sleeping in, I guess I took advantage.I didn’t get to my breakfast until a few minutes ago, a bit after 10:30.

I had a store brand lite English Muffin. If you have them at your local grocery store, give them a try. Mine taste great, with just 90 calories for the entire muffin, 0 Fat – saturated or trans, 0 grams of cholesterol, 5 g of Protein, and 21 g of Total Carbohydrate. A good choice for a bread lover like myself. I am easy to please as well, as I like it just toasted and dry. I enjoyed my muffin with a cup of Green Tea. I have to find the caloric information on that.

After I get around to showering, I plan to take my two littlest out on their bikes, and I will walk with the dog. We will see how long that lasts. I am aiming for at least a mile, but it all depends on how cooperative everyone is. I plan on getting into a major walking routine every morning right after I get the kids off to school.

For food, I should be good until mid-afternoon, when I plan on enjoying a nice green salad. I like that dry to, so I don’t have any calorie worries with that. Except for my carrots – I know they are really a carb, but I just have to have them shredded on top of my garden salad.

I’ll update tonight on how the rest of my day went.

I plan on having a great first day!

What happens when the Doctor says you need to lose 30 pounds to be fit, fab and forty. Well, you should listen to him, right! Right!

Well, I need to do this, for my health and well being. And I swear I am going to do it this time.

I figured the best way to do this would be to start a daily log of my daze though dieting – hence Daze of Dieting!

I hope you will join with me, and share your experiences of losing weight, exercising, and getting healthy with me.
